Brighton Rowing Club is hiring an Assistant Coach for our high school fall season. You'll be on the water every afternoon from a coaching launch, running drills and giving technique feedback to novice and varsity athletes.

 

What you'll do:

​

• Coach technique on the water — blade work, body sequencing, timing, and boat feel

• Run daily practice plans alongside the Head Coach

• Rig, launch, and maintain equipment, and teach athletes to do the same

• Set the tone: safe, coachable, competitiv

 

What we're looking for:

​

• Rowing or coaching experience (collegiate, club, or high school)

• Comfortable operating a motor launch

• Someone teenagers will listen to and want to row for

 

Required: CPR/First Aid certification, US Rowing Safe Sport training, and a completed background check. Preferred: US Rowing Level 1 certification; NY boating safety certificate.

Brighton Rowing Club needs a second set of eyes on the water this fall. You'll operate your own launch alongside the coaching launch and keep watch over our high school athletes — spotting swamped shells, boat traffic, changing weather, and anyone who needs help.

 

Great fit for a college rower home for the semester, or anyone with a boating license looking for steady afternoon hours and time on the water.

 

What you'll do:

​

• Operate a safety launch during every practice

• Keep constant visual contact with rowers; respond first to equipment failure, capsizes, or river traffic

• Carry and manage safety gear — PFDs, throw rope, radio

• Help with launching, docking, and boat handling

 

What we're looking for:

​

• A confident, alert small-boat operator — the job is paying attention for two hours straight

• Boating experience; NY boating safety certificate required (we'll help you get it)

• Rowing experience is a plus, not a requirement

 

Background check required. CPR/First Aid and US Rowing Safe Sport training required within 30 days of hire — the club covers the cost.
