Brighton Rowing Club Summer Camps
Skills Development Camp
Cost: $325.00
Starts: 6/8/26 Ends: 7/5/26
Monday - Friday, 3:30 - 5:45pm
Geared toward athletes with 1-2 years rowing experience, with a focus on sculling, sweeping and small boat training. Coxswains are encouraged! Ends with the Westside Invitational Regatta in Buffalo on July 5.

Varsity
Open to high school students who have completed one to two competitive seasons as a Novice. ​

Time: 3:30 - 5:45pm​​​​​

Practices are full time at the Genesee Waterway Center on Elmwood Ave and are Monday through Friday 3:30 – 5:45 pm. Registration includes most regatta fees but does not include any transportation or hotel accommodation costs. Additional Regatta fees may apply.

All rowers must also complete the US Rowing Membership and Waiver. See registation steps.
​
The club's preferred payment methods are check or Zelle (treasurer@brightoncrew.org). You can also pay by credit card right through this site.​
​
Transportation to and from practice and regattas is not provided. Rowers and parents must review the BRC code of conduct prior to the first practice. There is a $100 fundraising expectation with a buy-out option to be fulfilled by the end of the season to support equipment. Fundraising opportunities provided.

Winter Conditioning: Winter training is a vital part of preparing for the Spring race season. The focus for this season is cross training, technique, rowing at a faster rate, and preparing for sprint races. Sessions will be a combination of weight and erg workouts to prepare everyone for the Spring. Proper workout shoes and clothing are necessary for all sessions.

Spring: Practices transition out to the water in early/mid-April, weather depending. Varsity typically attend 4-5 regattas, 1-2 are overnight trips, including NY State Championships. Season ends Memorial Day weekend.
​
Fall: The focus for this season is conditioning, technique, and preparing for head races. Practices are 2 hours M-F starting in mid-August. Varsity typically attend 4-5 regattas, 1-2 are overnight trips. Season ends the last weekend in October.

Novice
Athletes are generally on the Novice team for two competitive seasons before moving to the Varsity Team.

Modified
Grades 7 or 8 to gain skills and knowledge in the rowing techniques. No previous experience needed.
